Achilles Sword – The Sword of a Legend
Swords that were said to be used in many epic stories in Greek mythology always seem to have a unique personality about them. The Achilles sword is no exception. Its design was unique as it was reliable in battle so far as the stories go. But more important than the sword in itself was the one who wielded it in battle, who happened to be a very famous Greek war hero.
Achilles, in Greek mythology, was known as a hero during the famous Trojan War. In fact, he was the main character in Homer’s Iliad, who was depicted as the most handsome of the warriors that were sent against Troy. Perhaps one of the most remembered attributes of Achilles was his heel, because he was said to be almost immortal, except for the heel which was his weakness. In fact, he died because of a poison arrow shot at his heel. This is where the term “Achilles Heel” came about, referring to the personal weaknesses of an individual.
But ironically, it seems that this replica of the Achilles Sword used in the movie “Troy” knows no weakness. It was crafted with great detail using bronze plated stainless steel for its blade. It even comes with a display plaque. If you are a movie swords fan, this one is for you.
